Michael P. Lynch is professor of philosophy, director of the Humanities Institute, and principal investigator of the Humility & Conviction in Public Life project at the University of Connecticut. His most recent books are In Praise of Reason: Why Rationality Matters for Democracy (M.I.T., 2012) and The Internet of Us: Knowing More and Understanding Less in the Age of Big Data (Liveright, 2016).
