Raymond G. Helmick, S.J. is a priest of the New England Jesuit Province and professor of conflict resolution in the theology department at Boston College. He has worked with conflict resolution and mediation in the following conflicts: Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Israelis and Palestinians, countries of the Former Yugoslavia, Kurds of Iraq and Turkey, East Timor and southern Africa.

He is co-founder and senior associate in the Conflict Analysis Center, Washington, D.C. He served as senior associate in the Preventive Diplomacy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies from 2000 to 2004.  He was Associate Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Responsibilities in London from 1973 to 1981. He also co-founded the Centre of Concern for Human Dignity (a joint project of the English and Irish Jesuit Provinces).

He received degrees from Weston College (Jesuit Province of New England), Hochschule St. Georgen (Frankfurt/M.) and Union Theological Seminary (New York).  He is the author of Living Catholic Faith in a Contentious Age (London, Continuum), and Negotiating Outside the Law: Why Camp David Failed (London, Pluto Press).

He is co-editor, with Rodney Petersen, of Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Religion, Public Policy and Conflict Transformation (Templeton Press). He is co-author with Richard Hauser of A Social Option: A Social Planning Approach to the Conflict in Northern Ireland (London) and author of La question libanaise selon Raymond Eddé: Correspondance et mémoires (Paris, Cariscript).
