Robert Roberts is Distinguished Professor of Ethics at Baylor University. In recent years his research has focused on moral psychology, with particular interest in the interaction between emotions and virtues and vices. Recent books are Emotions: An Essay in Aid of Moral Psychology (Cambridge U.P., 2003), Intellectual Virtues (with Jay Wood, Oxford U.P., 2007), and Spiritual Emotions (Eerdmans, 2007). He has held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Center for Philosophy of Religion (Notre Dame), and was Senior Research Fellow for the Templeton-supported project Theological Inquiry on Religious Experience and Moral Identity (2013–14) at the Center of Theological Inquiry, Princeton, New Jersey.
